RENT, THE LION KING, HAIRSPRAY; “1989” and “RED” World Tours with Taylor Swift
Kamilah Marshall (formerly Martin), has been recently seen and heard as support for 7-time Grammy Award winning singer songwriter Taylor Swift, including The 1989 World Tour (2015) and The RED World Tour (2013-14). Since 2003, Kamilah has been one of the Staggering Harlettes, singing backup for Bette Midler, in The Kiss My Brass World Tour and The Showgirl Must Go On at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Her Broadway credits include RENT, Disney’s The Lion King and the Original Cast of Hairspray: The Musical.
With appearances on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel, Late Night with David Letterman, The Grammy Awards, The Tony Awards, Tonight Show w/Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show and much much more, Marshall has worked with the some of the best including; Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Mick Jagger, Wynona Judd, Lizz Wright, Queen Latifah and Matthew Morrison to name a few. Session work includes working with producing giants Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys) and Nile Rogers (Madonna, David Bowie).
Marshall’s debut CD GYPSY MOONSHINE is available on iTUNES and CD Baby. A Blues-y, country sound with soulful overtones, Marshall writes and sings from the depths of her wild-hearted spirit. Most recently she can be heard featured on VINTAGE TROUBLE’s latest single STRIKE YOUR LIGHT from their Sophomore album 1 Hopeful Rd., which hit #1 on the Japanese Rock Charts and moved rapidly into the Top on the UK record charts.
