Quetta Carpenter

Training as a dancer for many years, Quetta began acting professionally in high school. She studied theatre and dance at Southern Utah University, earning a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Performing and Visual Arts. She went on to an acting internship at The Utah Shakespeare Festival for three seasons.

Quetta has appeared on stage with Seacoast Repertory, ShawChicago, Purple Rose Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Pennsylvania Centre Stage, New Paltz Summer Repertory, Southwest Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare Sedona, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Expanded Arts, Actor’s Renaissance, JeRM, Childsplay, Performance Network, Off-Broadway Theatre and Phoenix Theatre Cookie Company. Her work in the theatre has earned several awards and nominations, including The Robert Graham Fellowship and Manuel Duque Acting Award (Penn State) and a Zoni award for Best Supporting Actress (Torch Song Trilogy, NNT.)

Quetta entered the MFA in Acting program at Penn State in 2004. In addition, she did a semester in London, and two summer intensives in film acting at the Pro Actor’s Lab in Toronto with David Rotenberg.

Quetta moved to Chicago in 2007 and began working with ShawChicago, and Chicago Dramatists and teaching at Act One Studios. She also began acting in commercials, film and television.

Quetta has since filmed commercials for Maytag, Billy the Exterminator, iMeet, Dove, Texas.gov, HEB, Sittercity, and AZ Republic. She appears in a number of independent films, and can currently be seen as Coach Tracy in The Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader: Season 2 for Cheer Channel (Dish Network/Blip TV). Recent films The Price on Henry James’ Head and Sweet Sixteen are slated for release in 2013.

Quetta also does voicing for animation (Wizard 101 and Pirate 101) and movement design (Austin Critics Table Nomination in 2012 for Loves Labours Lost.) She serves as producer for Plenty Humble, a production collective currently in development on a feature film to be shot summer of 2014.

Quetta teaches movement, acting, and audition technique at the University of Texas at Austin and Meisner Technique at The Robichaux Studio.
