Travel/Rehearsal/Cast Details:
TXMTW will provide
- Round trip airfare, lodging, and a $70 per day stipend for three persons (for example, the lyricist/book writer, composer, and director). Any additional expenses incurred are the responsibility of each individual.
- Rental car for the creative team to share while in Austin
- Cast comprised of college students and Austin area actors
- Rehearsal space with piano, music stands, and seating
- Stage manager
Staged Reading Details:
TXMTW will provide
- One staged reading in our 475-seat B. Iden Payne Theatre
- Basic light plot with minimal looks/cues
- Basic sound
- Front of house support
- Marketing & promotion of staged reading through the UT Department of Theatre and Dance Public Relations Office
- Stage manager, technical director, and board op
- No sets; minimal costumes and props
- Book in hand, no memorization, only minimum staging (with no choreography for Equity actors)
Review Criteria for Proposed Projects:
- It must be a musical and represent new material
- Availability of perusal copy of piano/vocal score and script
- Artistic merit and excellence
- Evidence of commitment to/experience in new work development
- Appropriateness of new work to be seen by high school students and a creative experience for our students, alumni, and community
Please submit the following:
- brief synopsis of the musical
- character breakdown including vocal ranges
- script
- four recorded songs (available for streaming or download) plus piano/vocal score and each song’s placement in the musical
- biographical information for the composer and lyricist/book writer, plus any other artists attached to the project (stage director, musical director, choreographer, etc.)
- primary contact info (email address, phone, mailing address)
