TXMTW Internships

Texas Musical Theatre Workshop is seeking a team of energetic Artistic and Administrative Interns for its summer intensive program June 8-22, 2019 on The University of Texas at Austin campus. This team will attend, assist, and implement all TXMTW activities, including but not limited to: staff orientations, student check-in, audition, acting, voice and dance studio classes, master classes led by Broadway professionals, rehearsals, extracurricular activities/events, performances and student departure. The team will chaperone students in the residence halls and to/from all activities. Interns will participate in all activities in a supervisory, authoritative and supportive role. This includes intelligent decision making for the safety and well-being of the students at all times. The team will uphold and enforce all University of Texas at Austin and summer program rules and regulations as set forth in the guidelines for the summer program.

Qualifications: These positions require a strong commitment to working with high school students and knowledge in the field of musical theatre. Candidates should be currently pursuing a BFA/BA/BS with a focus on Theater or a related field of study. Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills are a must. Experience in teaching or performing for university or professional theatrical organizations is a plus.

These positions begin on or about June 6 and end on or about June 24, 2019. Artistic and Administrative Interns will be on duty and live in residence on the UT campus day and night during the dates of service. Conflicts cannot be accommodated.

Compensation: All TXMTW tuition and fees including room and board are waived for all Artistic and Administrative Interns.

Artistic Internship

TXMTW Artistic Interns will participate fully in camp master classes, rehearsals, and the end-of-camp “Portfolio” and will assist TXMTW guest artists and faculty as part of their experience. Artistic interns will also serve as residential mentors for TXMTW student artists and live in the dorm alongside them.

Administrative Internship

TXMTW Administrative Interns will work closely with the Producing Artistic Director and other staff to acquire valuable experience in running an educational arts organization including office management, social media marketing, communication with students and parents, and providing guest artist and faculty support. They will also serve as residential mentors for TXMTW student artists and live in the dorm alongside them.

Applicants will receive a confirmation via e-mail when all requested materials have been received. After a review of all applications, we will conduct phone interviews with the finalists.
